How Can Fast Food Fit Into A Healthy Diet?

A diet of fast food alone can never be called a healthy diet. The reason is that most fast foods contain processed ingredients and the combination of starches, proteins and fat which can wreak havoc with your digestion and also leave you without essential nutrition.

The only way to fit fast food into a healthy diet would be to eat it as infrequently as possible.

What's wrong with fast food?

Take burger for instance. The common ingredients in a burger are

1. Bread (usually not a whole wheat bread)

2. Cheese

3. meat patty (usually processed meat)

4. tomatoes

5. ketchup

6. processed sauces and spices

As you can see not one product used is unprocessed, apart from tomatoes of course. All processed foods are bad for you because most of the minerals, vitamins and proteins are denatured during the processing.

A burger is the best example of a toxic food combination. Mixing starches with protein leads to poor digestion of both and results in toxicity.

Bread is starch while meat, cheese and tomatoes are rich in protein. Human stomach cannot digest proteins in the presence of starch. Proteins require an acid environment for digestion while starches require an alkaline environment. When acidic digestive juices mix with alkaline juices the result is neutralization.

Eating meat with starch is common in our daily diet, this is bad combination of food types. Examples are chicken and noodles, meat and bread, fish and rice. No wonder the most selling products in America are antacids. You are bound to have acid reflux, flatulence and other discomforts along with obesity due to undigested fatty food.

No fast food apart from a fruit salad is healthy for consumption. If you eat a fruit salad make sure there are no spices or sauces on top of it.

Should I avoid fast food completely?

Its like asking should I avoid unhealthy food completely. Well the body is forgiving and can tolerate bad food every now and then, so keep it to a minimal. Eat healthy food as much as possible.

A diet rich in raw fruits is the best definition of a healthy diet for humans. Vegetables come a close second.
