Avoid Drinking Water While Eating For Better Digestion

If you want your digestion to be slow and improper, go ahead and drink water while you eat. There is no way of escaping the truth that water dilutes the digestive juices. A diluted acid or base cannot be as effective for digesting food.

When the food enters your stomach, it generates either an acid juice or a base juice depending upon the food type. For acidic food like meat the stomach uses acid juice and for starchy food like potatoes it uses base.

What happens when you mix water to acid or base?

It's concentration becomes diluted. It can no longer be as effective as in it's original state. Digestion would be retarded. Most people are habituated to drinking water, soda or soft drinks while eating food. This is not a healthy practice at all.

Whether you are eating non-vegetarian food or vegetarian, it does not make a difference. Drinking water will hamper your digestion. It will cause the digestion to go on longer than normal leaving you feeling sluggish. In several cases the food remains undigested and is discarded to the intestines in that state.

Drinking water while eating non-vegetarian food can lead to obesity

We are not only talking about water but any fluid taken along with food like carbonated water, soda, soft drinks or health drinks. All of them have the tendency to dilute the digestive juices or even neutralize it.

When you eat non-vegetarian food your stomach produces acidic juice for digestion. In human being the acidic juice produced is not even half as strong as what is produced in carnivorous animals, it's very mild. It strives to digest meat and other non-vegetarian food with the mild acid. This is the reason why eating non-vegetarian food has adverse consequences on health.

When you drink water on top of the food, you are diluting the already mild acid. Whatever is left of it would be incapable of digesting the non-vegetarian food. More digestive juices are produced in an effort to digest it. This whole process is highly energy consuming and it would leave your feeling sluggish.

Undigested food gets stored as toxin in your body to be disposed later. If you don't allow for any disposal time (either through fasting or eating a fruit diet), it will accumulate in your body as fat.

The Call Is Yours

The best practice is to avoid drinking water half and hour before eating and at least 1 hour after eating. If you must drink, just have it in a few sips. Some tips to avoid drinking water while eating are

2. Don't eat highly spicy food. It will cause you drink more water. Spice is toxic for the body.
