Three Major Causes of cellulite

The following are the major causes of cellulite arranged in the order of importance.

1.) Influence of Hormones: Estrogen plays a major role in the development of cellulite. This is the reason why women seem to get cellulite related problems more than men. In addition to estrogen there are many other hormones including insulin and the thyroid hormones produced by the thyroid glands which have been attributed to the formation of cellulite in the back and thighs.

2.) Diet Quality: An unbalanced diet is another major reason why cellulite development occurs. Consumption of junk food and other food materials that contain high amounts of fat and carbohydrates and very low amount of dietary fiber can lead to cellulite development.

Alcohol consumption and smoking have also been directly related to cellulite.

In addition untimely diet taken at odd hours can also lead to the formation of cellulite.

This is especially true for a sedentary lifestyle that involves sitting at the same place without much movement for more than four to five hours at a stretch.

In addition to sedentary lifestyle, other lifestyle related stuff like wearing tight clothes; wearing high heeled shoes etc. are known facts for cellulite development.

High levels of stress on a daily basis can also lead to the formation of cellulite.

Stages of cellulite:

Cellulite has mainly four stages which starts from minor anatomical changes and ends up in painful cellulite lumps in the final stage.

Stage 1: The first stage has no major clinical symptoms and has only some minor anatomical changes in the skin.

Stage 2 and 3: The second and the third stage of cellulite involve reduction in the elasticity of the skin and development of orange peel kind of roughness. The skin also becomes very dry in this stage.

Stage 4: The fourth and final stage of cellulite involves creation of visible lumps which are pale and painful. The skin becomes very rough and the temperature of the skin reduces.
